The NEWS you heard. The STORY that has never been told. UNTIL NOW. The Meeting: The Interpreter – a new play by Catherine Gropper and Directed by Brian Mertes stars Tony award winner Frank Wood and Kelley Curran from HBO’s Emmy Nominated, The Gilded Age in a gripping political and psychological drama. In the employ of a Russian lawyer, a Russian/American interpreter was a first-person witness to the infamous meeting in the Trump Tower (prior to the 2016 election) with Paul Manafort and Don, Jr.
Set against that backdrop, the story revels how this man was thrown up against government systems of congressional hearings and senate interrogations that catapult him into circumstances beyond his control, shattering his faith in his adopted country. The play is about the loss of individuality and privacy as it impacted this central character in the actual events - and the cautionary tale it tells about letting others interpret your actions to fit their agenda.
