Returning to “Christmas in Leicester Square” for their third season in a row, the hottest Australian burlesque-comedy-dance troupe Briefs Factory is back with “Close Encounters,” an interstellar extravaganza leaving no corner of the galaxy left unexplored and no man’s chest left unbare. Spend your holiday with the boys of Brisbane as they spread holiday cheer – among other things. You’re sure to be in for a memorable evening as long as you’re keen to be constantly entertained and delightfully scandalised.
With “Close Encounters,” Briefs reveals an impressive package, with can’t-miss gravity-defying aerials, captivating circus routines, and all the cheeky innuendo you could possibly handle. If your holiday season is in need of a good dose of raunch and debauchery, this fabulously festive and gloriously risqué burlesque show is baubles-deep in Christmas spirit with a punk rock twist. Aside from the dazzling choreography and a wardrobe that is decidedly more naughty than nice, this sexy show is chock-ful of laughs – always delightfully clever and always wonderfully indecent.
“Close Encounters” has already enjoyed critically successful runs, earning five-star reviews in the 2017 London Underbelly festival, Q Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand, and the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Briefs Factory describes their style, among other things, as “political party punk,” earning them a reputation for breaking boundaries and defying social preconceptions. Their previous show “Hot Brown Honey” was lauded by The Stage as a “cabaret with a passionate message that makes no concessions.”
Briefs originally made a name for themselves when they caught the world’s attention at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2013. They’ve won numerous Green Room and UK Theatre Awards and the award for Best Circus at Perth Fringe in 2014.
