A classic rags-to-riches story, “On Your Feet!” follows Gloria Estefan’s life from growing up in Florida, meeting Emilio, and achieving global stardom with their first hit “Conga.” The two face many obstacles, including battles with labels about the cross-over power of their Latin music and Gloria’s mother’s disapproval of Emilio. The jukebox musical chronicles how the stars become global sensations and prove all their naysayers wrong in the process.
The New York Times called “On Your Feet” an “undeniably crowd-pleasing musical” when it opened on Broadway in 2015 and ran for a 750 performances. Directed by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell and choreographed by Tony winner Sergio Trujillo, the musical will play on the West End through August 2019 before launching on a UK tour. It’s a feel-good night out with heart that’s guaranteed to leave you on your feet!
Gloria Estefan and husband Emilio have sold over 100 million records worldwide and won 26 Grammy Awards.
Make sure to get up and do the conga! When the big number hits the stage, audience members are encouraged to join in.
Alexander Dinelaris Jr., who wrote the book for “On Your Feet!”, was also part of the Oscar-winning writing team for the 2014 film, “Birdman.”
