About Oleanna

Just opened at the Arts Theatre to extraordinary reviews.

One of the most controversial and celebrated plays of the last thirty years has returned to the West End in an explosive new production by Lucy Bailey.

More relevant than ever in the #MeToo era, Oleanna brilliantly explores the consequences of a sexual harassment claim made by a female student against her male college professor.

***** ‘A thrilling revival…stunning performances…utterly of the moment’ Times

***** ‘A brilliant revival of a masterpiece…this is theatre at its most riveting, sensationally performed by its actors’ Guardian

***** ‘Mamet’s masterpiece…theatre is seldom this riveting or timely’ Sunday Times

***** ‘Rosie Sheehy…this year’s stand out performance’ Metro

**** ‘the show of the year…Jonathan Slinger is magnificent’ Daily Telegraph

**** ‘a crackling, intelligent production…two meticulous, masterclass performances from Jonathan Slinger and Rosie Sheehy’ Evening Standard

More information about Oleanna

Whether it’s school, university or just through hearsay, we’ve all had our favourite professors. But, what would have happened if that relationship became sour, affecting both of your personal and professional lives forevermore? That’s what happens in Oleanna, as Carol, a female student, files a claim of sexual harassment against John, her male teacher. Their bitter feud escalates to a dramatic conclusion, but can John listen to others? Or will narcissism reign supreme in an academic environment that supposedly champions dialogue? Book Oleanna tickets in London now.

The Oleana play is an educational drama that explores the role of gender and power in wider society. Now, for a 21st century revival, Oleanna has now been adapted to take the #MeToo movement into account. Oleanna transfers from Theatre Royal Bath to the Arts Theatre for a limited engagement in summer 2021.
