The Little Women musical is a coming-of-age show that’s based on Louisa May Alcott’s novel of the same name. Little Women follows the four March sisters — Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy — as they grow up in Civil War America. During the musical, audiences join the sisters as they grow up in a tumultuous time, interspersed with the short, personal stories that Jo writes in her attic. Jo dreams of having her stories published, but it takes a while for the world to learn of her poetic writing. Though these women may be named as little, they’re definitely fierce, and they’ve got hearts of gold to match.

The Little Women story has been masterfully adapted by Allan Knee, staying faithful to the original novel. Knee has previously worked on stories including Finding Neverland, so you can definitely expect some magical storytelling in this production too. There’s also a stunning score by Jason Howland and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, with stand-out songs including “Astonishing” and “Some Things Are Meant to Be.” Be swept up in the timeless nature of Little Women on stage, which comes to London for just six weeks. • The Little Women London premiere is taking place at the Park Theatre. The UK premiere was at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester in 2017. This Little Women production is a London transfer of Little Women in Manchester.
• The Little Women musical opened on Broadway in 2005, starring the Tony Award-winning actress Sutton Foster as Jo.
• When the musical first opened in Austria in 2007, the show was renamed “Beth und ihre Schwestern" — translating from German as “Beth and her sisters.”
• Little Women is Louisa May Alcott’s best-selling novel. The Little Women stories were originally published in two parts, but now the story is told in one book. The novel is now considered to be the first example of personifying an “all-American girl”.
