What to watch for

  • The character Shrek alone required over four pounds of green makeup for each performance, setting a record for the most makeup ever used on a single character in a Broadway production and can take 2 hours to put on before each show.
  • Lord Farquaad's diminutive stature was achieved by having the actor perform on his knees, creating a comically contrasting visual with the other characters.
  • The production employed impressive puppetry for the character of Dragon, bringing the massive creature to life with a combination of technology and traditional puppetry techniques.
  • The film boasts an all-star cast, including Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona, and John Lithgow as Lord Farquaad.
