Alex Edelman's Just For Us is just for you. After sold-out performances worldwide, the hit stand-up show comes to London in early 2023.
Just For Us arrives in London after nearly a year of New York performances. While Stateside, Just For Us picked up celebrity fans like Billy Crystal and Ben Stiller. It impressed critics too, with a five-star review on New York Theatre Guide commenting “all the themes weave into a high-level message about the limits of human empathy and our oft-futile desire to change people.”
A comedy show about Jewishness and anti-Semitic hate may not seem like a topic for hilarity at first. But, as Edelman reveals how he infiltrated a meeting of white supremacists and spoke to them face-to-face, meeting your haters is perhaps the best thing you could possibly do. There’s also family-based anecdotes; hosting Christmas as a Jewish person, his Olympic athlete brother AJ, and gorillas. All these stories come together to explore the power of online communication and what “us” can mean.

Just For Us had its world premiere in 2018 in Melbourne, Australia and later headed to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, both times to acclaim. The show eventually played a New York tour, with runs at the Cherry Lane Theatre, the SoHo Playhouse, and the Greenwich House Theater. Just For Us now plays at the Menier Chocolate Factory, a similarly intimate location.
What to Watch For:
- Whenever Edelman performs Just For Us in a new country, he’s always impressed critics. Just For Us won a Herald Angel Award in Edinburgh, as well as a Drama Desk Award nomination in New York, and a Melbourne International Comedy Festival award in Australia.
- Just For Us marks Edelman’s third solo show. His stand-up shows include Millennial (2014) and Everything Handed to You (2015).
- Adam Brace directs, continuing the pair's regular collaborations since 2014.
- After high school, Edelman moved to Jerusalem for a year to study at a yeshiva. While there, he helped form the inaugural Jerusalem comedy club, Off The Wall Comedy.
