Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney go head-to-head in the century's most thrilling case. Find out who will shoot and score, and book Vardy v. Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial tickets on TodayTix.
Forget all the football action in the penalty box. For two footballers’ wives, all their drama took place in court. Coleen Rooney — wife of Wayne Rooney — publicly accused Rebekah Vardy — wife of Jamie Vardy — of selling false stories to the press. Talk about social media sleuthing.
The Guardian raved about the court case turned drama, likening it to "a parable for our social media age: we see the function of Instagram in the women’s lives, its interconnections with the press, and our avid consumption of both."
In a week-long hearing, the two women aired all their dirty laundry on the stand, and constant press commentary invited the general public to take sides. Whose side will you be on in court?

The trial between Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney quickly gained notoriety as the ‘Wagatha Christie trial’ — a nod to a “wag” (a footballer's wife or girlfriend) and crime writer, Agatha Christie. Not even Agatha Christie could create a mysterious thriller with so many twists and turns. By the end of the play, chipolatas, pigeons, and Davy Jones will all have a different meaning.
But how do you a week-long court case and years of buildup into a West End play? Call in Liv Hennessey. She's adapted seven days of transcripts into a two-hour story. The Emmerdale screenwriter weaves elements of television drama into the court case. After a limited season in winter 2022, the Vardy. v Rooney London play gets new West End fixtures. Its new home ground? The Ambassadors Theatre.
