Clare and Henry’s love story isn’t exactly like everyone else’s. They meet, fall in love, and get married, but it isn’t in that order. Henry has a paranormal genetic disorder that causes him to randomly time travel at any moment. Falling in love with his soulmate, Clare, proves a challenge when he lives in the past, present, and future at the same time. Can they stand the test of time?
The producers behind the hit shows Back To The Future: The Musical and Ghost are behind this uplifting, compelling romance, which sold out its world premiere at the Storyhouse Chester. This new stage production of The Time Traveller’s Wife mesmerises with an original score by Joss Stone and Eurythmics’s Dave Stewart.
The duo’s emotive melodies and heartfelt lyrics, along with the book by widely produced American playwright Lauren Gunderson, convey this extraordinary narrative.

Although a time-travelling husband sounds like a science fiction plot, the show is a romance first and foremost. The Time Traveller’s Wife musical takes the London stage to celebrate the deep complexities any relationship has and how unconditional devotion can overpower them.
Niffenegger’s maternal grandparents inspired this premise. When her grandfather died young, her grandmother lived for another three decades without ever getting remarried. Niffenegger wanted to relay how infinite love is tested when something out of the couple’s control happens.
Since being published in 2003, The Time Traveller’s Wife novel has sold over 8 million copies worldwide. Twenty-five literary agents originally rejected the hugely successful novel, yet it’s now one of the most well-known romance stories of this century.
