About A View From The Bridge

BAFTA award winner Dominic West, star of The Affair, The Wire and The Crown, stars as Eddie Carbone in Arthur Miller’s timeless masterpiece of illicit and barely repressed sexual passion.

Eddie Carbone, a Brooklyn longshoreman, has brought up his niece, Catherine, as his own daughter. When she succumbs to the attractions of the charismatic Rodolpho, Eddie’s explosive sexual jealousy has terrifying and tragic consequences for New York’s close-knit Italian-American neighbourhood.

Dominic West leads an all-star cast in this hotly anticipated production, as he is joined by Olivier and Tony Award nominee Kate Fleetwood (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Macbeth, London Road)and BAFTA Cymru award winner Callum Scott Howells, star of Channel 4’s It’s A Sin and West End phenomenon Cabaret.

When the production was announced at the Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio earlier this year, the entire run sold out in an hour. Book now for what promises to be the West End event of the year.

More information about A View From The Bridge

Travel to Red Hook, Brooklyn to experience one of the greatest tragic American plays of the 20th century. Proud family man Eddie Carbone struggles with his feelings of desire for his niece Catherine, and his complicated emotions are laid bare when a cousin from abroad — Rodolpho — arrives in New York seeking a new life.

Lindsay Posner’s production had its first life at Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio in 2023, before transferring to Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End.

Dominic West follows in the footsteps of Anthony Quayle, Michael Gambon, Liev Schreiber, Ken Stott, Mark Strong, and Jonathan Slinger in the role of tragic figure Eddie.

What to Watch For

  • Arthur Miller’s play has elements of Greek tragedy, including the chorus-like character Alfieri, a lawyer who serves as a narrator and a bridge between the audience and the story.
  • It has been 10 years since A View From the Bridge was seen in the West End, with Ivo Van Hove’s critically acclaimed 2014 production winning three Olivier Awards, including Best Actor for Mark Strong, Best Revival, and Best Director. The Young Vic production later transferred to Broadway.
  • It has also been nearly 10 years since Dominic West found himself on stage in a London theatre, with his last show being Josie Rourke’s production of Christopher Hampton’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the Donmar Warehouse in 2015.
