The Enfield Haunting is a new psychological thriller exploring the tale of one of the most baffling poltergeists ever haunted London. For decades, people have wondered whether one of the most famous cases of supernatural activity was due to the presence of an actual ghost or the clever workings of two teenage girls. In The Enfield Haunting, playwright Paul Unwin investigates the mystery as never before.
1978, Enfield, London. Single mother Peggy Hodgson has been trying to raise her four children in their perfectly ordinary council house on Green Street. However, strange and spooky events began to unfold. The children were seemingly levitating, chairs overturned, and disembodied voices echoed through the house. It appears mischief is occurring, either in the form of a poltergeist or something more sinister entirely. Tensions mount to an unbelievably disturbing and frightening climax in this new thriller.
Get ready to be enthralled and terrified by this chilling new play based on the real events of the Enfield Poltergeist. Book Enfield Haunting tickets on TodayTix.

The Enfield Haunting features Catherine Tate (Doctor Who) as Peggy Hodgson and David Threlfall (Shameless) as investigator Maurice Grosse. The play is largely inspired by a first-hand account of the events, told to playwright Paul Unwin by Grosse’s colleague and fellow ghost hunter Guy Lyon Playfair. He played some of his audio recordings from the investigation for Unwin over afternoon tea, who was mesmerised.
For eighteen months back in the late 1970s, neighbours, investigators, and journalists tried to decipher the mystery of the Enfield Poltergeist that was said to be haunting a home in North London. Some people became convinced that Peggy’s daughters, Janet and Margaret, were behind it all. While Janet supposedly admitted to deceiving journalists, she later retracted her statement; paranormal investigators were divided over whether or not they believed her. The true identity of the person (or spirit) behind the hauntings remains unknown to this day.
