A Face in the Crowd in London is a tale of power, politics, and celebrity that tells the story of radio producer Marcia Jeffries (Anoushka Lucas), who interviews a local drifter, Lonesome Rhodes (Ramin Karimloo). When Jeffries decided to give Rhodes a slot on her show, she could not know the levels of fame, power, and celebrity that would be coming for Rhodes.

A Face in the Crowd is a musical by Pulitzer finalist and Tony-nominee Sarah Ruhl (In the Next Room), and it features songs and lyrics by Grammy-winning Elvis Costello (Look Now). Since 2015, Costello has been performing many songs from A Face in the Crowd in concert, including A Face in the Crowd, Blood & Hot Sauce, and A Town Called Riddle. In addition to Costello performing some of the songs, the show had an invite-only reading in 2016 in New York. Now, the highly anticipated musical comes to the Young Vic in London for its world premiere.
The show’s creative team is exceptional, including director Kwame Kwei-Armah (Twelfth Night, Tree), musical supervisor and musical director Phil Bateman (Once on the Island), lighting designer Jackie Shemesh (Death of England: Closing Time, Pandemonium), choreographer Lizzi Gee (Jack Absolute Flies Again), and Olivier Award-winning sound designer Emma Laxton (Emilia).
