Slave Play in London has an expert cast, including four members from the Broadway run: Chalia La Tour (The Good Fight), James Cusati-Moyer (Six Degrees of Separation), Annie McNamara (Orange is the New Black), and Irene Sofia Lucio (The Americans). The cast also includes Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Fisayo Akinade (Heartstopper), Aaron Heffernan (Brassic), and Olivia Washington (I'm a Virgo).
The consummate cast tells the story of three interracial couples. The black partners no longer feel attraction to their white partners, so they are going through "Antebellum Sexual Performance Therapy" as part of a psychological experiment by graduate students. Through the show, themes of sexuality, race, and power dynamics are explored. The title of the show refers to both sexual slavery role-play as well as slavery in the United States.

Jeremy O. Harris wrote Slave Play during his first year at Yale School of Drama. In November 2018, it had an Off-Broadway staging with New York Theatre Workshop, directed by Robert O’Hara. After the Off-Broadway success, the production was transferred to Broadway in October 2019, with O’Hara once again directing. The Broadway run earned 12 Tony Award nominations, at the time breaking the record for the most nominations for a non-musical play. The production has now transferred to the West End with director O’Hara again at the helm.
"I do not take it lightly that this play is one of the rare plays by a black author that has made its way to the West End. I'm incredibly grateful for the trails blazed by the myriad black British writers recently who have broken ground for black writers and audiences on the West End like Arinzé Kene, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Tyrell Williams, Ryan Calais Cameron, and Natasha Gordon. I hope that with this production even more work by writers of colour will find support on our largest commercial stages," Harris said.
Jeremy O. Harris’s groundbreaking Slave Play, exploring themes of race, sexuality, and power imbalance, comes to the West End with a talented cast, including Game of Thrones star Kit Harington and Heartstopper star Fisayo Akinade.
