The Cabinet Minister in London includes a talented creative team, including director Paul Foster (Crazy For You) in his Menier Chocolate Factory directing debut, Olivier-nominated sound designer George Dennis (The Homecoming), set and costume designer Janet Bird (Guys and Dolls), movement coach Joanna Goodwin (My Fair Lady), and Tony-winning composer and musical supervisor Sarah Travis (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street).

The Cabinet Minister is a play that has a long history. It was first published in 1890 by English playwright and actor Arthur Wing Pinero. The Cabinet Minister, which ran for 199 performances, was just one of Pinero’s many farces—others include The Magistrate, The Schoolmistress, and Dandy Dick. Since its original run, The Cabinet Minister has had various revivals and adaptations, including a 1977 adaptation by Michael Denison and a 1987 revival at the Royal Exchange.

  • Nancy Carroll, who adapted and stars in the play, has previously acted on the Menier Chocolate Factory stage as Tess in Marjorie Prime.
