Experimental drama at its best. See what happens with no rehearsal, no director, a different actor each night and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on the stage.
Each night a completely new adventure awaits – depending on how the author’s words compel each actor to perform. Internationally acclaimed White Rabbit Red Rabbit, by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, is a theatrical adventure embracing comedy and tragedy. An edge of your seat experience with some of the UK’s most extraordinary talent, you don’t want to miss this theatrical event of the year.
“I was born on Azar 19th, 1360 in Tehran. That’s Tehran, December 10th, 1981 in Christian years…”
Forbidden to leave his country, playwright Nassim Soleimanpour distilled the experience of an entire generation in a wild, utterly original play. White Rabbit Red Rabbit is as much about contemporary Iran as it is about power dynamics in the rest of the world.”

White Rabbit Red Rabbit is a play that was written to comment on playwright Nassim Soleimanpour's absence because, at the time of the play's writing, he was unable to leave his home country of Iran due to refusing to join Iran's national service. This play, which toes the line between drama and comedy, explores power dynamics, freedom, and control. The show has earned numerous awards, including the Dublin Fringe Festival Best New Performance and Summerworks Outstanding New Performance Text Award.
Nassim Soleimanpour Productions said, "It is personal but universal. Funny yet very political and so timely for the world we live in. We are so excited to present it at this time and in such great company."
The play, which premiered in 2011 at the SummerWorks festival in Edinburgh, was an instant sensation. The show has since been performed over 3,000 times worldwide and translated into 30 languages.
With no director, no set, a different actor every night, and the script in a sealed envelope on stage, White Rabbit Red Rabbit is experimental theatre at its very best. This smash hit has been performed over 3,000 times since its 2011 premiere, with this being its first time in the West End.
