Elektra is a play by Sophocles that was likely written sometime between 420 BC and 414 BC, as it has similarities with Philoctetes (409 BC) and Oedipus at Colonus (406 BC). This new translation is by award-winning poet Anne Carson, who also translated Sophocles' Antigone. Carson has published over twenty books, and among the many awards she's earned include the T.S. Elliot Prize, the Governor General's Award for English-language poetry, and the Lannan Literary Award.
Elektra in London boasts an exceptional creative team led by director Daniel Fish (Oklahoma!). Annie-B Parson (Here Lies Love) is the choreographer, Jeremy Herbert (Hamlet) is the scenic designer, Adam Silverman (The Glass Menagerie) is the lighting designer, Doey Lüthi (over and over vorbeinicht vorbei) is the costume designer, Max and Ben Ringham (A Doll's House) are the sound designers, and music is by Ted Hearne (Place).
