More information about …blackbird hour

…blackbird hour is a play staged by Vital Xposure, a disabled-led company that “promotes hidden voices with extraordinary stories to tell.” The play has an excellent creative team, which includes direction by malakaï sergeant (We Are Here To Make Change), design by Khadija Raza (Peanut butter and blueberries), lighting design by Jahmiko Marshall (The welkin), sound design and composition by Mwen (A Home for Tender Hearts), and creative captions and video design by Will Monks (Petula).

sergeant said, “Not to be all clichéd, but genuinely it is an honour and pleasure to be directing …blackbird hour in its first ever full production – it’s been a long time coming. This incredibly special play wouldn’t be what it is now without the contributions of all of the Black creatives who have shaped it over the years. I can’t wait to build on this and share my take on Eshe’s world as we meet her again following 2021’s …cake.”
