Jonathan Miller’s classic production of The Barber of Seville is a feast of frivolous fun.
Enjoy Figaro’s mischievous escapades as he assists Count Almaviva in prising the beautiful Rosina away from her lecherous guardian, Dr Bartolo.
Be prepared for ridiculous disguises, elaborate deceptions, mistaken identities and the closest of shaves as barber Figaro helps the young lovers find a way to be together.
Rossini’s comic masterpiece fizzes with memorable melodies in an entertaining production that unites the theatrical worlds of Italian commedia dell’arte and Whitehall farce.
American conductor Roderick Cox makes his ENO debut. ENO favourite Charles Rice plays Figaro while Simon Bailey, one of the most versatile bass-baritones of his generation, sings Dr Bartolo. The cast is rounded out with ENO Harewood Artist Innocent Masuku as Count Almaviva and Irish soprano Anna Devin will be making her ENO debut as Rosina.
