Hansel and Gretel in London is directed by Nick Bagnall (Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Two Gentlemen of Verona) and written by Simon Armitage, who earned a CBE award for his services to literature. Armitage has published over 20 poetry collections and has been a Poet Laureate since 2019. He’s also written multiple other plays throughout his storied career, including Mister Heracles, Eclipse, and The Assassin Tree.

Hansel and Gretel is a musical adaptation of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, which was published in 1812. Throughout history, there have been numerous adaptations of the story for stage, film, and television, including the 2020 horror film Gretel & Hansel and the 2024 Netflix anime series The Grimm Variations.
