Singer, songwriter, and record producer Evelyn Champagne King burst onto the scene in 1977, at the height of the disco era, with her debut album Smooth Talk. The album featured the hit single “Shame,” which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, #7 on the Soul chart, and #8 on the Dance chart, and the follow-up single “I Don’t Know If It’s Right,” which was certified Gold.

Next up, in 1981, the single “I’m In Love,” from the album of the same name, was released, and went on to reach #1 on the R&B Singles chart and Dance chart, while also peaking on the Pop chart at #40.
