About Gettin' the Band Back Together on Broadway

The Tony-winning director of Urinetown returns to Broadway with a hilarious new musical comedy for anyone who dreams of a second shot at their first love. Mitch Papadopolous (Mitchell Jarvis, "Rock of Ages") always wanted to be the next Springsteen, but he chose job security over stardom. When he’s handed a pink slip on his 40th birthday, and is forced to move in with his mom (five-time Golden Globe nominee Marilu Henner, “Taxi”) in New Jersey, he gets a surprising chance to dream big again. He dusts off his guitar, gathers his old gang and sets out to win the Battle of the Bands to stop his arch nemesis from foreclosing on his family home—and maybe even win back the high school sweetheart he left behind.

More information about Gettin' the Band Back Together on Broadway

Welcome to Sayreville, N.J. — where Mitch Martino is getting his band back together. After losing his Wall Street job on his 40th birthday, Mitch moves in with his mother, Sharon. When Mitch’s high school nemesis Tygen — now a successful business and real estate owner — threatens to foreclose on Sharon’s house unless Mitch and his former rock band compete in a Battle of the Bands rematch against Tygen’s “Mouthfeel,” Mitch scrambles to reunite “Juggernaut.”

Enter: the band. Bart has become an overweight high school math teacher; Sully is a local police officer; Robbie is a dermatologist; and their fifth musician, Kenny, died while performing in a Meat Loaf tribute band. So, the group needs a new guitarist. They replace Kenny with a 16-year-old local high schooler, and Juggernaut takes its first gig at a Jewish wedding. But when the night turns sour and Juggernaut ends up in jail, they must figure out how to get out in time to for the ultimate battle!

Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
