Based on the 1992 Disney animated film of the same name, the Tony Award-nominated Best Musical follows the title street urchin as he journeys to the Cave of Wonders, where he discovers a magical lamp that changes his life forever.
After unleashing a friendly and funny Genie who will grant him three wishes, Aladdin transforms into royalty to win the heart of Princess Jasmine. The only thing standing in his way is the Sultan’s villainous Grand Vizier, Jafar, who will stop at nothing to steal the lamp and take the throne.

- James Monroe Iglehart, who originated the role of the Genie in the stage production, took home the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Aladdin was nominated for five Tony Awards in total.
- Jonathan Freeman, who voiced the villainous Jafar in the 1992 film, reprised his performance on stage in the original cast of the musical.
