The reviews are in for Alison Leiby: Oh God, A Show About Abortion!text in italic
“INSIGHTFULLY FUNNY. In a smart and entertaining show, full of observations about the sometimes painful messiness of female bodies, her trip to Planned Parenthood is the least dramatic, most calmly straightforward part. Telling the truth about abortion — speaking of those experiences in a culture where abortion remains heavily stigmatized — well, that is rare.”— THE NEW YORK TIMES
“This year’s breakout comedy performance.” - VANITY FAIR
“Timely and darkly hilarious! In what may be the waning days of Roe, there is an acute sense of power in Leiby’s joking about, demystifying, and otherwise normalizing abortion. This is the mission of the show.” — VOGUE
"POWERFULLY PERSONAL. Leiby's penetrating comic treatise seriously slays. As hilarious as Leiby is, she does more than induce belly laughs. FOUR STARS - RECOMMENDED!” — TIME OUT NEW YORK
See the show the New York Times called the “Best Political Comedy of 2021.” Alison Leiby walks through the stupid minutiae, the backwards practices, and the surprising perspective that come with exercising your reproductive rights.

Brooklyn-based comic Alison Leiby brings her critically acclaimed stand-up show to the Cherry Lane Theatre after runs across New York. While she knows the subject matter is heavy, she has a message for audiences: "Please come. I promise it’s funny." Get Alison Leiby: Oh God, A Show About Abortion tickets on TodayTix.
Originally titled Oh God, An Hour About Abortion, Alison Leiby: Oh God, A Show About Abortion is a stand-up comedy show in which Leiby describes her firsthand experience getting an abortion. More specifically, she details the summer leading up to it: How it all started "with a bang," how she subsequently decided to get an abortion, and how she prepared. That summer was, in some ways, as mundane as any other — she got two root canals and made her fair share of CVS trips — but it also gave her perspective on the ramifications of exercising one's reproductive rights, especially in a time when those rights are being widely challenged.
Alison Leiby: Oh God, A Show About Abortion is the latest in a string of off-kilter stand-up comedy shows at the Cherry Lane this season, following Neal Brennan: Unacceptable in the fall (a show in which Brennan examines "what's wrong with himself") and Alex Edelman: Just For Us (about Edelman's experience secretly infiltrating a white supremacist meeting as a Jewish man) in the winter.
Leiby previously performed her show at New York venues like Manhattan's Caveat and Brooklyn's Union Hall, earning her a spot on The New York Times's Best Comedy of 2021 list as the year's best political comedy. She's also written comedy articles for Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, McSweeney's, Vice, and The New York Times, and she's written for Comedy Central TV shows like The President Show and The Opposition with Jordan Klepper.
