The Gathering: A Collective Sonic Ring Shout is an immersive orchestral and choral concert experience that will honor the lives lost to racial injustice and awaken joy as a source of freedom and resistance.
May 7, join the Apollo, National Black Theatre and the American Composers Orchestra for an evening of sonic liberation featuring works from Nona Hendryx, Toshi Reagon, Jason Michael Webb, anchored by composer Joel Thompson’s Seven Last Words, the operatic meditation on the last words of unarmed Black men killed by police or authority figures with a 70-member orchestra and 60-member choir.
