Our Town... but Wilder is a world premiere comedy about a 1980’s high school production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town gone horribly wrong. Our Town... but Wilder is set in a small New England town in the 1980’s and tells the story of high school student Bentley Cramer, a sexually confused theater kid. When Bentley becomes the stage manager in his high school’s production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, a series of comic mishaps lead him on a journey of self-discovery as he learns about the fragile coexistence of beauty/community and intolerance/divisiveness that often co-exist in small town America.
"Richard Krevolin has blown the doors off a classic piece of Americana. Our Town..But Wilder exposes the dark forces just below the surface of small-town New England. It's funny and irreverent, and carries a powerful message of change." - James Ledbetter, Executive Editor of The Observer, and Author of One Nation Under Gold: How One Precious Metal Dominated the American Imagination for Four Centuries
"Our Town..But Wilder is irreverent, funny and heartfelt; it's Oscar Wilde meets Breakfast Club. The cast sparkles, as fully-formed characters come to life. The play is set in the 80s but it's ideas remain all too relevant today." Elie Honig, CNN and Bestselling Author
"Richard Krevolin has written and directed Our Town..but Wilder - subtitled A Lamentation for America - turning it into a darkly giddy sutdy of small-town bigotry and stupiditiy" - *Joel Benjamin, theaterscene.net *
