Kingsman is the queen, and she's coming to New York! Following celebrated runs worldwide, comedian Liz Kingsman is bringing her award-nominated solo show, One Woman Show, off Broadway. Set an alert for One Woman Show tickets on TodayTix.
One Woman Show is... well, it's right there in the title. It's actually a one-woman show-within-a-show, as Kingsman plays an actress preparing to perform Wildfowl, a comedy act about a woman messily, chaotically, and comically stumbling through her wayward 20s. One Woman Show is a loving riff on the entire genre of "messy woman" comedy pioneered by funny ladies like Lena Dunham and Kate Berlant. In the absence of meaty comedic roles for women, Kingsman notes, one-troubled-woman shows seem to be the only path to success.
One Woman Show has propelled Kingsman to global stardom, earning her a 2023 Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. "Kingsman is a comedy superstar," London Theatre raved, "[who] celebrates the sexy, aloof qualities in women while ripping up the rulebook."

The premiere of One Woman Show off Broadway comes on the heels of two London runs and two Australian runs, in Sydney and Melbourne. Kingsman also performed the show at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, earning an Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination. In 2021, The Guardian dubbed One Woman Show the year's best comedy special.
In an interview with Kingsman, ABC News Australia described the genre One Woman Show skewers best: "narcissistic women with self-destructive tendencies, who act out via unfulfilling casual sex, binge-drinking and inappropriate workplace behaviour. Their actions are often a response to a traumatic event; to feelings of pain, grief or guilt."
All the plot points of Kingsman's show are inspired by various shows featuring "messy women." Fan-favorite examples include Lena Dunham's TV show Girls and Sally Rooney's Conversations with Friends and Normal People, two novels that got the TV treatment.
