About Spamalot on Broadway

Kicklining knights, a bevy of showgirls, and a hilariously helpless king: you’ll find them all in Monty Python’s Spamalot on Broadway, one of the most successful musical comedies of all time, through April 7 only. See Jonathan Bennett, Alex Brightman, Christopher Fitzgerald, James Monroe Iglehart, Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, Ethan Slater, and more — that's one stacked roundtable! Get Spamalot tickets on TodayTix.

After winning the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005 and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, the long-running hit is back in New York for the first time. Spamalot is based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which wildly spoofs the legends of King Arthur. Now, the first Spamalot Broadway revival comes to the St. James Theatre this fall following a starry, acclaimed run at the Kennedy Center in D.C.

Join Arthur and his loopy Knights of the Round Table as they go on an epic quest with gags aplenty where, even when the road gets tough, you’ll be reminded to “always look on the bright side of life.”

Find your grail — or at least your tickets! Get tickets to Spamalot in New York.

More information about Spamalot on Broadway

The Spamalot musical is immensely adored for its broad humor, earworm songs, and family-fun story. Plus, the show features a colorful cast of characters where each performer gets a moment to show off their killer vocals and comedic chops. After its sold-out D.C. run, the show now jousts its way back to Broadway for the first time with a buzzy cast of Broadway favorites.

James Monroe Iglehart, who won a Tony Award as the original Genie in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway, leads a band of not-so-competent knights as King Arthur. Musical comedy queen Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, last seen on Broadway in Beetlejuice, accompanies the king as the mysterious and diva-licious Lady of the Lake. Ethan Slater, who portrays Boq in the upcoming Wicked films and originated the title role in the SpongeBob SquarePants musical, plays Prince Herbert; and Jonathan Bennett, known for his movie role as Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, plays Brave Sir Robin.

What to watch for

  • The wooden rabbit used in the show is the same one from the original Broadway production! Multiple productions of Spamalot have actually used it in between, too, and every cast signed their names on the inside.
  • Eric Idle is one of the founding members of the Monty Python comedy troupe.
  • John Du Prez and Eric Idle’s score features hummable tunes aplenty. The Tony-nominated score features Broadway standards such as “The Song That Goes Like This,” “Diva’s Lament,” and of course, the optimistic anthem “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.”
  • The show is one of the industry’s most decorated. The original Broadway production ran for four years and earned 14 Tony Award nominations, winning three prizes including Best Musical. The show went on to enjoy two West End productions, scoring seven Olivier Award nominations, along with multiple national and international productions in Canada, Australia, Spain, Mexico, Japan, and others.
