More information about Bowl EP

Bowl EP is a unique piece of theatre: muscular, athletic, daring. Not every show features live skating alongside original music, so this is a play that will be both a visual and aural feast. On top of that, and rooting the play to its themes, is a simple story: two young musicians dreaming big to catch their break.

Kelly K Klarkson and Quentavius da Quitter need to find a name for their rap group. Maybe they’ll find it while skating around the bowl: drinking together, smoking together, and flirting together. They overshare their feelings and practice new skating tricks. All the while, they inch closer to one another in this cosmic, poetic play about dreams and destiny.

In this new play, Bowl EP is both a physical place but also an abstract one: a skate park in the middle of a wasteland at the edge of the galaxy. Audiences won’t soon forget it.

What to watch for

  • Nazareth Hassan is the 2024-2025 Tow Foundation Artist-in-Residence at Vineyard Theatre, a program that jumpstarts the careers of rising writers.
  • Audiences can expect a show that is both intimate in scale (with two actors at its center) and epic in scope (as it examines physical skating feats and dreams of stardom).
  • The Vineyard Theatre is known for its productions of prize-winning hits like Avenue Q, How I Learned to Drive, Gloria, and more. -The title's EP refers to extended play, a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single but fewer than an album or LP record.
