More information about Empire: The Musical

Celebrate the world’s most iconic building, the Empire State Building, with song, dance, and a whole lot of love. A new musical, Empire follows three generations of dreamers, darers, and doers who come to New York for job opportunities and find their way in the big city from the Roaring Twenties through the Great Depression and eventually the Bicentennial Year of 1976.

Empire shines a light on one of history’s greatest feats of will and desire. Aiming to establish itself as a cultural and economic center of the country, New York City commissioned the construction of the Empire State Building, completed in 1930 and finished with glamorous Art Deco details thanks to the work of the brave Mohawk Skywalkers, industrialist visionaries, and can-do immigrants. These workers all had the gumption to go up and up and up when few would be so bold. Empire promises a timeless tale of resilience and optimism, which together powered the construction of a true landmark and internationally recognized building that still inspires today.
