Set an alert for when The Queen of Versailles tickets go on sale to see stage icon and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth back on stage as famous shopaholic and mulitmillionaire Jackie Siegel. Tony winner Michael Arden directs the new musical The Queen of Versailles, written by Stephen Schwartz and Lindsey Ferrentino. Rounding out the starry ensemble is F. Murray Abraham (The White Lotus), who co-stars as Jackie’s husband.
Following their smash success with Wicked, composer Schwartz reunites with his original Glinda, Chenoweth, to bring audiences The Queen of Versailles on Broadway, a hilarious and moving new musical about fame, family, and (mis)fortune. All hail the queen: “you’ll leave with stars in your eyes, a tune in your head, and caviar in your dreams,” per Time Out Boston. The new show got rave reviews during its out-of-town tryout; now, see The Queen of Versailles in New York during the 2025/26 theatre season.

In The Queen of Versailles, Jackie Siegel has it all: a wealthy husband, eight kids, and a gigantic house she can’t wait to show you. Modeled after the Palace of Versailles but situated in Florida, the gaudy home is to be the United States’ largest private residence. Based on a true story, The Queen of Versailles is a new musical about glitz and greed.
Kristin Chenoweth, as Jackie, has played a vapid character with a big heart before: Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked. Audiences familiar with her signature humor and sky-high slinging will find plenty to enjoy in this new musical, penned by Stephen Schwartz who also wrote Wicked and helped catapult Chenoweth to stardom. Rounding out the cast is F. Murray Abraham, as a sleazy businessman, who is known for playing a lecherous wealthy man before, as seen on The White Lotus. Together, Chenoweth and Abraham offer a hilarious portrait of Florida “royalty.”

This new musical is based on the life of Jackie Siegel, a former Mrs. Florida and wife to an ultra-rich businessman. She’s queen of Versailles — not the palace, but her own recreation of it, which is to be the US’s largest private home. But a recession looms, and Jackie’s dreams may crumble.
Lindsey Ferrentino wrote the book and Oscar winner Stephen Schwartz wrote the music and lyrics.
Stephen Schwartz writes witty and memorable songs, as with "Popular," "Day by Day," and "Corner of the Sky." Audiences can expect similar pop-infused delights in this new score, which Variety called his "most emotionally affecting score, bar none."
Audiences must be four and over to enter Broadway theatres, and there is not a formal age recommendation at this time.
Michael Arden, a Tony winner for directing the revival of Parade, directs this new musical
Stephen Schwartz, known for Wicked, Pippin, and other hits, wrote the music and lyrics to this new show based on a cult documentary.
Reviews were stellar for the Boston run: Time Out gave it four stars, and Variety says, "Kristin Chenoweth shines in a lavish new musical with a social satire bite."
