More information about Five Models in Ruins, 1981

Elizabeth Marvel is no stranger to the stage even as audiences may know her best from her screen roles in House of Cards, Homeland, Burn After Reading, True Grit, Lincoln, and others. Now, she returns to the stage as a darkly comic look as a model realizing the power not of others’ gaze but her own.

Caitlin Saylor Stephens is a playwright on the rise, and her work has been hailed as “taut and brutal” (The New York Times), “artistically hazardous” (The New Yorker), “fearlessly poetic” (Culturebot), and like “Cinderella in reverse” (BOMB Magazine). She is not afraid of depicting thorny women, as is the case in this new play, and her plays offer a sharp cultural critique at their burning core. Now, she turns her attention to a model, Roberta (Marvel), who is at the peak of her career after just landing a cover shoot for Vogue. But where will she go from there?
