The hills are alive with the sound of Black music! Experience the songs from one of the most beloved American musical classics as reimagined through an Afrofuturistic lens, led by a dynamic group of musicians and vocalists, including Brianna Thomas, Chareene Wade, Vuyo Sotashe, and more. The uplifting spirit of Black roots music ripples through this production, curated by jazz vocalist Michael Mwenso and producer Jono Gasparro in association with Electric Root. Conceived as a central production within a platform to create a creative healing space for a troupe of predominantly BIPOC artists, the community engagement behind this follows the same intention behind previous tours — ‘HARLEM 100’ & ‘WE SHALL OVERCOME.’ Join us for one-night only! About LCA Live: LCA Live is San Francisco State University’s multidisciplinary arts and lecture series, working to raise the visibility of under-resourced artists, makers, thinkers, and scholar; and engender inclusive practices and spaces that nourish the creative spirit of all. Our signature series, Live on Stage, is a premier mainstage performance and lecture series. It showcases both emerging and established artists in powerful, striking, and soul-stirring performances and talks. Live on Stage is the amalgamation of LCA Live's mission to create inclusive access to art and spaces that nourish the creative spirit of all.
