What to Watch For

You may recognise our leading lady Kim, AKA Abigail Adriano: while this may be her professional lead role debut, Adriano played Alice in Tim Minchin’s Matilda, and can be seen on the small screen as co-lead Rose in Netflix/ABC’s The Unlisted.

Speaking of Kim, Lea Salonga – who originated the role on Broadway in 1991 – was the first Asian performer to win a Tony for Best Actress in a Musical.

Keep your ears open to the widest range of far eastern percussion instruments used in any western musical, including baos (Chinese opera gongs), chū-daiko (Japanese taiko drums), kyeezee (Burmese temple bells), and Thai ching cymbals.
