La Sonora Ponceña is a Puerto Rican salsa band founded in 1954 by Enrique “Quique” Lucca Caraballo. Paying tribute to its native city, this band first hit the scene in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Rising to fame in the 1960s and gaining worldwide acclaim, the group has recorded 32 albums and demonstrated its staying power over the past seven decades under the leadership of consummate musician and arranger Papo Lucca Jr., who took over as director from his father. Witness one of Puerto Rico’s most legendary salsa bands in this historic appearance in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall!
