More information about Disney's Frozen

Frozen won over movie audiences — and awards voters — in 2013, becoming an instant hit and winning Oscars for Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature. The musical adaptation began on Broadway, where it ran for two years and earned three Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. A flurry of global productions followed in the U.K., Japan, Germany, Singapore, Australia, and more.

The acclaimed production from Broadway is the same one going up in D.C., so audiences get to experience the Frozen musical in its full glory at a venue fit for royalty.

What to watch for

  • Frozen features an unbelieveable costume transformation for Elsa. We can't spoil what it is or how it's done — it's pure Disney magic.
  • Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who co-wrote the Frozen score, can attest that love is an open door. They're husband and wife in real life, and they met at a musical theatre writing workshop!
  • Robert Lopez is the youngest person to ever achieve an EGOT, or the distinction of having at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. He did it at 39. He's also the only person with a double EGOT and is only one Oscar away from a triple!
  • Arendelle is a fictional kingdom, but its name and look are based on the town of Arendal, Norway.
  • The Frozen musical features multiple songs written for the stage, like "Hygge" and "Monster," in addition to the film's hits.
