The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is a spectacular theatrical venue situated in the heart of London. Built as an homage to the private indoor playhouses from the Jacobean era, the theatre design was inspired by historical research and explores the impact of candlelit performances. The Playhouse is part of the renowned Shakespeare's Globe complex and was built adjacent to the Globe Theatre. The splendour of this venue is palpable - from its oak-lined interior, to the bewitching glow of its candlelit performances, it leaves an indelible impression on all who visit. This unique candlelit experience is a signature feature of the Playhouse, lauded for the intimate atmosphere it creates. Impressive to say the least, the theatre also hosts a multitude of events; from productions of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, to expert talks and enlightening guided tours.
The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse can be reached via a variety of transport options. If travelling by tube, the closest stations are Blackfriars, Mansion House, and London Bridge. It's also well-connected by numerous bus routes. Alternatively, if you're keen on a scenic walk, the theatre is accessible from the Thames Path, providing a picturesque route to your destination.
